Early Home Support and Home Visiting

Support for expecting mothers and families.

Because Every Parent Deserves Support

Parenting is full of rewards and challenges, but you don't have to do it alone. Our Home Visiting program provides free, confidential, support to families with children ages 0-18 years, in the comfort of your own home, The River Center, or someplace within the community where you feel comfortable..

HOME VISITING FAQ

Who is it for?
  • Parents and caregivers who are expecting a baby or raising children between the ages of 0-18 years
  • Families who want one-on-one confidential support with child development and behavior, parenting strategies, or connecting with resources
  • Any parent or caregiver who would like a trusted person to listen, encourage, and support them through the good times and bad.
  • Any family regardless of income level
Why choose home visiting?
Home visiting is free, voluntary, personalized for you and your family, and confidential. You decide if and how long will participate. The home visitor listens with compassion and understanding.
How do I get started?
It's easier to get started than you may think! Just reach out to us at The River Center to learn more or to speak with our home visitor.

Phone: (603) 562-7048
Email: [email protected]
Website: https://rivercenternh.org

The home visitor will call you to ask and answer your questions, provide more information, and set up your first meeting with them.
How will we work together?
Because every family is different, but here’s some of what we do:
  • For babies and parents: Rocking, cuddling, feeding, and burping infants, supporting prenatal and newborn care, and giving parents a little time for self-care.
  • Getting out and about: Taking walks, enjoying fresh air, or exploring local resources like the farmers’ market where SNAP benefits can be doubled.
  • Child development support: Reading together, playing age-appropriate games and activities, talking about milestones, and helping connect you with early intervention if needed.
  • Support for older kids:  Supporting toddlers through teens, we guide families in handling behavior, tackling school challenges, and joining special education meetings.
  • Working with your team: Collaborating with doctors, schools, therapists, or other professionals sometimes with you, sometimes for you with your permission.
  • Practical help and resources: Attending appointments, supporting evaluations, connecting you with services for mental health, domestic violence, substance use, and more.
  • Community and connection: Linking you to other River Center programs like Music & Movement, Walk & Talk, Mini Explorers, Families, Forests & Farms, and Generations Together.
  • Flexible support: Meeting with you weekly, bi-weekly, or monthl at your home, The River Center, or around the community. We can also stay connected by phone between visits.
Our commitment
Our home visitor is here to support you, not to judge. Sometimes that means pointing out areas where a little extra help could make things easier, but the focus is always on encouragement, your strengths, and what matters most to your family.

Every family has its own strengths, and we’re here to help build on yours with care, resources, and support every step of the way.
